Winter term 2019/2020

Module: »Innovative polymers for nanomedicine« (M053)
The Bayreuth Polymer Symposium 2019 is the 16th biennial international Bayreuth Polymer Symposium. Current topics of interest from research areas are presented including functional polymers, polymer materials, polymer colloids, polymer interfaces, polymer nanostructures, polymer nanotechnology, and biomaterials.
A primary objective of this meeting is to bring people together from different areas of polymer, colloid and materials science to discuss different aspects of fundamental and applied research. The symposium provides a platform for dialog between researchers from universities, research institutions, and industry.

Summer term 2019

Module: »Innovative polymers for nanomedicine« (M052)
"Innovative polymers for nanomedicine" is a conference module in SS 2019 within the Elite Study Program “Macromolecular Science”. The module cover aspects in life science, chemistry and physics of polymer-drug conjugates to nanoparticulate systems encapsulating the active drugs. The general aim of nanomedicine is an improvement of efficacy compared to conventional treatments, which often suffer from systemic side effects or fast excretion of the drugs.

Module: »German-Russian Travelling Seminar« (M051)
The 9th “German-Russian Travelling Seminar” is a summer school module in SS 2019 within the Elite Study Program “Macromolecular Science”. The Travelling Seminar is a series of German-Russian summers schools, alternatingly taking part in Russia and Germany/Europe, along the topical outline of nanoparticles, scattering methods and large-scale research facilities. The module as embedded in the Elite Study Program consists of 2 parts, i.e. the participation in the summer school and a seminar afterwards.

Winter term 2018/2019

Module: »Modern Research Topics in Macromolecular Science« (M050)
Students are free to choose several topics pertaining to current research in the field of macromolecular science. The topics are offered by the participating departments and faculties, i.e. chemistry, biochemistry, polymer and colloid chemistry, physics, biophysics, materials engineering and biology

Summer term 2018

Modul: »German-Russian Travelling Seminar« (M049)
The Travelling Seminar is a German-Russian summer school, which alternatingly is organized in Russia and Germany. About a dozen German and a dozen Russian students participate in a two-week course on the scientific topic of nanomaterials and large-scale research facilities. The seminar aims for Master students, possibly for last year Bachelors or first year PhD students.

Module: »Interdisciplinary Practical Course« (IP020)
The module provides training in different practical techniques applied at the involved research faculties. The participating departments are chemistry, biochemistry, polymer and colloid chemistry, physics, biophysics, materials engineering and biology. Detailed instructions will be made available during the course.

Winter term 2017/2018

Module: »Beyond Bragg – Material characterization with electrons and X-rays« (M048)
This advanced module within the Elite Study Program “Macromolecular Science” is dedicated to the application and use of scattering techniques to answer current scientific questions in the field of chemistry, physics and material science. The aim of the seminar is an introduction to research possibilities at large scale research facilities. The seminar covers an introduction to the generation of brilliant X-ray beams at synchrotron radiation facilities and includes a guided tour, seminars and a live-experiment at the facility.
